MUSIC AT HOLY TRINITY PARISH CHURCH, FOREST ROW
Music at Holy Trinity is a very important part
of the Christian life and worship not just of the church but the whole village
of Forest Row.
Through services, concerts and recitals we hope we can encourage even more
people to visit the Parish
Church
and enter into the life of its community.
The Church Choir is affiliated to the Royal School of
Church Music. The R.S.C.M. scheme ‘Voice for Life’ is used for
training, particularly to encourage the young choristers with their singing,
music and Christian faith. The choir is highly committed and very motivated,
singing throughout the year for all services and festivals. Anthems are sung
regularly with music ranging from the Renaissance period to the contemporary
music of today.
The Junior Church Choir which was restarted in
December 2006 meets on alternate Fridays for Choir Practice from 6.30-7.30pm.
They primarily sing on the 1st Sunday of the month for the Worship
Together services as well as for special occasions depending on the Festivals
and time of year. Earlier this year they sang for the Christian Aid concert
and were very well received.
The Holy Trinity Festival Choir was formed in the
summer of 2006. It comprises the Church Choir, members of the congregation,
and friends from the surrounding area. We have already had two very
successful concerts for The Parkinson’s Society and the R.N.L.I. and
more performances are planned for the future in 2008. Please keep an eye out
on this website and in the village.
New members for any of the Church Choir,
Junior Church Choir and Festival Choir are very welcome. Please either
contact the Director of Music, Simon Morris (01342 823940), or the Vicar, Rev.
Nick Lamb (01342 822595), who will be very pleased to give you further
details.
ST.
DUNSTAN’S
The congregation at St. Dunstan’s no longer has a separate
choir – it is the Choir!
The Church has delightful acoustics and we enjoy singing a broad range
of traditional and contemporary hymns and songs. We have many good voices in the
congregation that bring a sense of joy and occasion to our worship. There are regular special services that
feature the music of Iona and Taizé. We also host
the Advent Carol Service when we are joined by many from the other churches
in the Parish. Whether you can hold a tune or not you are welcome to join us.
